Accommodation

Though the farmhouse dates back many centuries, the cottage itself was added in relatively recent times. This has resulted in the retention of all the wonderful character and charm of the old farmhouse, whilst allowing for the state-of-the-art to grace the cottage wherever it is needed. Therefore, the modern convenience one would expect seamlessly mixes with the traditional, to create a classical environment designed to allow its occupants to rest and recuperate!

Each area of this luxury retreat feels separate even though the cleverly-designed open-plan living area organically flows from one end of the cottage to the other. In glorious summer or brooding winter, you can bask in its embrace and revel in its peace and tranquillity from your favourite seat. When the day begins to fade and bed beckons, you can relax in the knowledge that each comes bedecked in fine linens and soft faux furs and is exactly as the fable describes: not too hard and not too soft – just right.

The Interior

The whole relaxing feel of the stay can be summed up by the feeling of wonder that happens when the front door opens for the first time!

The downstairs has been designed as a wonderful living space that organically flows from one area to another where a stylish kitchen and dining area all lead into a well-appointed and spacious lounge. Among other things, here there is a Smart TV, log-burning stove and property-wide Wi-Fi to offer all you might need for a comfy recline.

Luxurious textiles adorn all the windows and furniture, adding splashes of colour and texture whilst still retaining that homey feel! The long wooden dining table is often dressed with freshly cut seasonal flowers from the gardens, whilst freshly picked fruit from the walled orchard is also there for guests to enjoy. Freshly laid daily eggs can also be ordered for breakfast (hens depending)!

The well-appointed kitchen is stocked with a selection of tea towels, crockery, utensils and cooking equipment, with a small welcome bundle to usher you in. The contents of this hamper depend on seasonality but is full of tasty local produce.

The cottage also enjoys underfloor heating throughout and furthermore in the lounge area there is a wood burner stocked with plenty of logs, inviting you to sit back and relax.

If however, the desire to enjoy the open air takes hold, the downstairs area leads out onto a private walled garden and patio area. Amongst other things, this comes equipped with a large table and chairs, firepit, and barbeque, just in case you wish to dine outside. Alternatively, one can simply put that plan on hold and luxuriate in the surroundings!

A modern interior with traditional furnishings

Bedroom 1

The master bedroom which has views overlooking the Garden and Farmhouse, is light and airy with oak beamed ceilings and is styled with fabrics depicting country scenes inspired from 18th century Toiles De Jouy. The double bed is bedecked with fine Egyptian Cotton linens, plump cushions and silk fabrics.

There is a comfortable seating and reading area which leads onto an en suite bathroom which comprises a large rolled topped bath, a walk-in shower and toilet.

Upstairs

An oak staircase leads you upstairs and on either side of the landing are 2 beautifully appointed double bedrooms. Both have storage and hanging areas as well as ample seating for relaxation, along with en-suite baths and views over the farmhouse and surrounding gardens.

In both bedrooms, crisp white French bedlinens and hypoallergenic bedding is used throughout to ensure a perfect night’s sleep. Local artisan “Lordington” lavender soaps and bath oils let you soak and unwind in the bath whilst the cottage’s fluffy waffled bathrobes, slippers, towels and facecloths also ensure a relaxing and comfy stay.

Bedroom 2

Inspired by the fruits found in the orchard, the large double bed in this room is adorned with wild flora and fauna fabrics and mohair throws. The window reveals wonderful views that span from the free-range hen area to the surrounding countryside.

The en suite bathroom houses a comfortable sized bath with shower attachment, but please note for reasons of accessibility, this en suite does not have a walk-in shower.
