Terms and Conditions
- The contract for a short-term holiday rental will be between the Chauffeurs Cottage proprietors (referred to as “us” or “we”) and the person making the booking and all members of the holiday party (referred to as “you” or “your”) in the following booking conditions, the law of England and Wales will govern the Contract.
- The contract of hire is not effective until we have received the deposit. The contract will be subject to these booking conditions and must be complied with. The party leader must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the booking and the booking form must list names, addresses and ages of your party.
- Booking is confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable 30% deposit. Receipt of the deposit confirms agreement to our terms and conditions. In the event that an application is accepted, this booking fee will be retained by us and treated as a payment on account of the full amount payable in respect of the letting.
- The contract between us and you for the letting of the property shall arise upon us giving written confirmation of acceptance of your application (which at our discretion may be dispatched by prepaid post or electronically to an email address provided by you).
- Once the deposit has been accepted, the remaining balance of each holiday let must be paid in full no later than 4 weeks before the date of arrival. If not received, the proprietors reserve the right to cancel the booking and re-let the cottage. VAT is not payable in the rental charge of the property.
- In the unlikely event of cancelling the booking, you shall remain liable for all the payments due in respect of the reservation whether or not they have been paid at the time of the cancellation. Therefore, all applicants are advised to take out personal holiday cancellation insurance. We will use our reasonable endeavours to re-let the property in respect of the cancellation period.
- All confirmed bookings are from the check-in time of 3.30pm on the day of arrival to the check-out time of 10am on the day of departure. Failure to adhere to these times will result in you being charged a further full days rental. The agreement to stay in the property for the holiday period, does not create the relationship of Landlord and Tennant between the parties. You shall not be entitled to a new tenancy, or to any assured short hold or assured tenancy or any statutory protection under the Housing Act 1988 or other statutory security of tenure now or at the end of the Holiday Period.
- If, by reason of Force Majeure (e.g. any circumstance beyond our reasonable control including, without limitation, an Act of God, Fire, Flood, War or Acts of Terrorism) the property is not available at the commencement of the time booked by you or the property is unsuitable for letting at that time, we shall not be deemed to be in breach of contract. We will not be liable for any other claim for loss or damage by you.
- Any persons other than the named members of your Chauffeur’s Cottage guest party must not use the facilities of Chauffeurs Cottage. To exceed the maximum number of persons in the cottage overloads the facilities available which are not designed or capable of supporting additional usage and can lead to extensive and expensive damage. Any such incident will be considered a serious infringement of the Terms and Conditions and can result in an immediate requirement to vacate the premises, with no refund of monies due and possible further charges in the event of damage to the facilities caused by excess usage (for example, a malfunctioning septic tank which has been used by a greater number of people than the tank is designed for).
- Use of our pool is on a strict arrangement basis only. Desired swim times need to be notified to Lisa (07983 419898) on the day of arrival. The pool is open to guests between the hours of 10am and 5.30pm only. Guests who use the pool do so entirely at their own risk. Children must always be supervised by a responsible adult. No lifeguard is available, and we strongly recommend that no one swims unaccompanied. Diving and jumping into the water as well as running around the poolside are strictly prohibited. The pool surround can become very slippery when wet and so care should always be taken. Use of the pool or any other play equipment is at your risk in all respects.
- All fires, whether lit outside or inside the cottage, must not be left unattended at any time. To maintain the efficient operation of the wood burner and flue pipe, please only use the seasoned wood provided by us, do not burn any other materials. When the wood burner is lit, use the fire guard. Make sure the fire is extinguished before going to bed or leaving the property.
- Any damages, breakages or losses in accordance with the Cottage Inventory must be reported and paid for prior to departure. Failure to do so will result in a consequent charge.
- Guests are asked to leave the cottage clean and tidy on their day of departure. The black general waste and red recycling wheelie bins are located beside the driveway, next to the Wendy house. You are responsible for the property and are expected to take all reasonable care of it and all its effects during your stay. You must leave everything in the same state of repair and in the same clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period as at the beginning. You must not act in a way that may be a nuisance or annoyance to the other neighbouring properties. We request noise to be kept to a minimum between the hours of 10pm and 7am.
- There is a strict no smoking policy to be observed inside the cottage.
- There is also a strict no pets policy.
- We are relieved of any liability for illness or accident occurring during a guest’s stay at the cottage. This includes loss or damage to property and/or vehicles.
- The proprietors reserve the right to decline accommodation requests and to remove guests without warning when necessary.
- The proprietors are entitled to reasonable access to Chauffeur’s Cottage at all times.
- We reserve the right to amend the price quoted on our website or rates sheet due to errors or omissions or changes in the VAT rate. In such circumstances we will contact you as soon as we become aware of this change in charges.
- Should the cottage, for any reason, become unsuitable for letting after a booking is confirmed, the proprietor’s liability will be limited to the amount of the rental paid.
- Personal data is only used for the legitimate interests of Chauffeurs Cottage and does not unduly prejudice the rights and freedoms of the individual in question. Personal data will be processed fairly and lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Personal data will be kept only for so long as is necessary for the specified purposes.
